The Barlaston Good Neighbour Scheme went live on May 10th .

An initiative of the Community Council of Staffordshire, the Good Neighbour Scheme enables people to volunteer practical support to neighbours who through age or disability may feel isolated.  A volunteer could offer as much or as little time they can give to offer practical help with shopping, befriending, transport to medical appointments, etc.  Just a small offer of help can make a big difference to someone who is lonely.

What is Barlaston Good Neighbour

The Good Neighbour scheme is voluntary organised to coordinate volunteers and help residents in Barlaston, with for instance:

  • Some company – talking on the telephone or having a visit

  • Walking a dog
  • Pursuing a hobby
  • Writing a letter
  • Learning how to use a computer
